[South Korea Gyeonggi-do]
Spatial expression of ubiquitous design
Ubi-Park
The city of Paju co-built ‘Ubi-Park’ with Korea National Housing Corporation in the Gyoha New Town in October 2007. The large area of 500,000m² containing Yongjeong Reservoir and Theme Park now has the future ubiquitous city being built, where you can experience state-of-the-art residency culture that you could see only in SF movies. The most prominent feature is the Ubi-Park Experience Hall, which is halfway over the reservoir. The streamlined ground features easily seen in hills and fields of Korea were implemented into the design. In the middle of the smooth bow-like curve sits a bold red symbol of sphere. This Ubi-Park Experience Hall consisting of one underground level and two ground levels provide a unique experience, as much as it is putting out on its future city. The RFID Card that you receive instead of ID cards mutually interacts with various items within the experience hall to allow a more vivid experience. Multi-colored exhibitions spur your senses, such as the ‘Miraesi Station,’ which shows the city of Paju from screens surrounding you from 360°, the ‘Good Morning Paju’, which displays the Gyoha New Town of Paju at a reduced scale of 1/450, and ‘U-House,’ the future residence with a unique design. Besides the above, the promenade near the reservoir with the ‘U-Health’ system, where you can check your health on a real-time basis, feels friendly with its theme The Little Prince.
There are other brilliant attractions such as the Sky Fountain that pours water up to a height of 50m, the Upside-Down House that recently became famous on TV, and the Pinwheel Hill with humongous pinwheels installed. Contact 031-946-2125, www.ubi-park.co.kr

The Ubi-Park Experience Hall contains curvatures generally seen in Korean terrain and traditional structures. The Korean curvature beauty made modern was emphasized with the red sphere.
This is an exhibition hall with diverse experience opportunities on ‘Ubiquitous.’

1 ‘Miraesi Station,’ the large objet d’art and exhibition space tat overwhelms tourists from the very entrance of the Ubi-Park Experience Hall.

2 This is the Upside-Down House that recently became famous through TV. Its design is fresh, as if it came from the imaginations of a child. On the sense that ever-comfortable homes resulted in fatter residents and more geriatric diseases, the well-being house was proposed where remote controls are simply gone and you must exercise to live here. The reverse-concept different from ubiquitous enlightens you to the blessings of technology.
3 This is the ‘U-House’ Exhibition Hall where you can see how future residency will change.
You can also see how ubiquitous technology and design have met.
