Mt.Gamaksan
Description
The mountain is named "Dark Blue Rock Mountain" because it is said that the black and blue color come from between the rocks. At the top of the mountain, there is a monument whose words are now worn out. Some argue that the monument is "King Jinheung's Royal Tour Monument", saying that its shape is similar to Bukhansan Royal Tour Monument. It is said that there were four Buddhist temples-Gamaksa, Wungyesa, Beomryunsa, and Wunrimsa- with no traces of them now. Beomryunsa Temple was rebuilt in 1970 on the ground where Wungye-sa Temple was believed to stand on. Below the temple, there is the Wungye Waterfall that cascades about 20m.
Transportation
Bus: Take an intercity bus bound for Jeokseong-myeon from the Seoul Bulgwang Bus Terminal (about one hour and twenty minutes). Or, a deluxe bus from Jongno 5-ga to Uijeongbu (about 40 minutes)
Subway: Get off at Uijeongbu Station of the Red Line
Car: Take the road #1 for Munsan and, then, the Road #37 and go to the Road #323 from Jeokseong.
