The Ho-Am Art Museum was launched in 1982 with the collection of fine art pieces amassed throughout the life of Hoam Lee Byeong-Cheol, the founder of Samsung Group. Mr. Lee himself donated a total of 1,200 art pieces while the museum is home to 15,000 art pieces that range from the prehistoric age to modern times including one hundred items that are as valuable as national treasures. It features a Buddhist Art Hall on the 1st floor and a Painting & Writing Hall, a Cheongja Hall, a Buncheong Sagi Hall and a Baekja Hall on the 2nd floor. This museum is highly recommended to those who are interested

in ancient Korean and oriental art and culture. After touring the museum, visitors can view the beautiful lake and Ho-Am Pavilion over tea at the teahouse. The museum is located across from the west gate of Everland.

 

Hee Won Korean Garden

Hee Won Korean Garden features a traditional Korean garden and Bourdelle garden growing on 66,116m². A total of 450 fine stone items such as a gorgeous Ggotdam (fence full of flowers), a Silla stone pagoda and Buddha statues as well as fascinating plants such as apricots, orchids, chrysanthemum and bamboo are some of the wonder ful attractions. The Bourdelle garden is a French garden that features large pieces of Bourdelle that blend with the traditional Korean garden, Hee Won Korean Garden.

In early April, in particular, the cherry blossoms draw visitors with their frothy blooms.

Opened in April 1982 with 1,200 pieces of Korean artworks collected for around 30 years by Hoam Lee Byung-cheol, Ho-Am Art Museum is located in a beautiful natural scenery and consists of a main building of a traditional Korean-style house, a traditional Korean-style garden named ‘Huiwon,’ a Bourdelle garden displaying large-scale artworks of Bourdelle, a master of French sculpture, the waterside square along the lake, and a passage of a stone seal.

 For the comfort of visitors, there is a resting place on the 2nd floor lounge, a café in ‘Huiwon’ and a souvenir shop in a parking lot where the products developed by the art museum is on display. In this museum, you can feel the elegance of Korean traditional culture.

EXHIBITION HALL

Special Exhibition Hall A special exhibition with collections of Ho-Am Art Museum is held twice a year Buddhist Gallery exhibits Buddhist artworks representing each period from an image of Buddha in the Three Kingdoms era to Buddhist scriptures. Gallery of Paintings and Writings Visitors can view the history of Korean painting such as Buddhist painting of Goryeo era, folk painting of Joseon era. Gallery of Celadon Porcelain 20 pieces of celadon porcelain with impressive pattern and shape including celadon green(blue) porcelain.

CURATOR'S CHOICE

Traditional Garden Huiwon opened in 1997 commemorating the year of cultural assets and the 15th anniversary of its first opening. Reflected original aesthetic spirits of Korean garden from the basics of design and realized it perfectly. Thanks to restoration of old topography based on principles of Chagyeong, Huiwon has become the lively space with hidden and revealing flexible beauty and elegance completed by architectural elements of a traditional garden such as stone platform,pavilion, pond, fence, etc.

[South Korea GyeongGi-Do] Jisan Resort


Description
There are 10 slopes at this resort which opened in 1996. Beginners can enjoy the Sunkid course, couples can take the Avec course and those looking for a challenge won't be let down either. It was the first resort in the vicinity of Seoul to open a slope solely for snowboarders. Plus, the resorts 6-person lift, the first of its kind in the nation, means no long waiting line. For preschoolers, there's a one-of-a-kind snow Kids Park that will change their idea of fun.


Transportation
Bus: From the Dong Seoul Express Bus Terminal, take the Icheon bound bus. From there, take coach bus #12 and get off at the Resort stop.
Car: Exit from the Yeongdong Expressway at the Deokpyeong Tollgate, take a left and go straight for 2km. At the 3-way intersection, head in the direction of Gachang-ri and the resort is just a 3 minutes drive away.
