There are many different types of accommodation in Korea, from Super Deluxe Hotels and Traditional Korean Hanok Houses to Homestay and Camping Grounds. Tourists can choose the type of accommodation based on their plans and budget. Korea offers accommodation with both western-style rooms and traditional Korean-style ondol rooms (with heated floors and futons). Generally, many hotels offer western-style rooms while others offer traditional Korean-style ondol rooms. However, certain motels and yeogwans may only offer ondol rooms.
Types of Accommodation
Hotels
Hotels are classified into five categories: super deluxe (five-star), deluxe (four-star), first class (three-star), second class (two-star), third class (one-star). Generally, a double room in a super deluxe hotel costs approximately 200,000-300,000 won (use of extra services and facilities not included); in a deluxe hotel 100,000-200,000 won, a first class hotel 100,000 won, second class 50,000-100,000 won, third class 30,000-10,000 won. The prices of hotels vary depending on season and location. Hotels above deluxe class usually have a fitness center, sauna, a business center, restaurants and cafes. Hotels add a 10% VAT and 10% service charge
