Description
This fortress was designated as the nation’s 139th Historical Place. During the late Joseon Dynasty. when the country was trying to protect itself from foreign powers, the fortress was used to drive off American and English warships. It was a strategic military base because it protects the country from enemies coming from the sea and stops them from going to Ganghwa Island, which is very close to Seoul. A battle took place here between the Korean and French soldiers during Byeonginyangyo (a battle with foreign invaders in the Byeongin year). The fortress was built in 1694, the 20th year of Sukjong's governance, to protect the Ganghwa Island from enemies. It is 6km in length and has three gates (East, West, and North) and a temple called Munsusa within it. The surrounding area has such beautiful scenery, especially in fall when the leaves turn red and yellow, that it is even called the "Geumgang of Gimpo". Standing on the top of the fortress you can see into North Korea.
Transportation
Bus: Take the Ganghwa bound bus from Sinchon and Incheon Bus Terminal to the Gimpo University (about twenty minutes). Car: Take the road #48 to pass Masong and Gunha-ri to the Seongdong checkup point.

Description
This is where people experience both pleasure and sadness because they can see North Korean villages with the naked eye. This was the only place from which to see North Korea before exchanges between the North and South were allowed. After the observatory was built, about 200,000 people visited the place each year. A large Christmas tree is set up here during Christmas and a Buddhist mass is held on the Buddha's birthday under the theme of unification. The scenery here is very beautiful.
Transportation
Bus: Take the Gunha-ri bound bus from Suwon and Sinchon Bus Terminal and take a taxi (10 minutes). Car: Take the road #48 to pass Masong and turn right at Gunha-ri to go straight for 10 minutes.

203rd Natural Monument, Internationally Protected Bird - White-napped crane (also called as Sandhill Crane) live throughout Korea, Japan, China and Mongolia. The crane also lives in Gimpo and Paju, Gyeonggi Province. The 'Jae' from its Korean name means ash because unlike other white cranes, the body of the white-naped crane is gray. The white-naped crane is now almost extinct, with only 4,500~5,000 living and is protected as a natural monument. the source - http://english.kg21.net/board/viewPhoto.jsp?seq=33&page=1&query=

Description The fortress on the Seondolhang Port was a strategic military base since it is located in the way between Ganghwa Island and Seoul. During the Byeonginyangyo (the battle with foreign invaders in the Byeongin year, 1871), there was a fierce battle between Joseon and foreign soldiers. The fortress was found in 1980 and later restored to its original state. During the excavation, a depot and a place where a fire was kept for artillery were found. Also discovered were small-and medium-sized cannons, artillery shells, and Sangpyeongtongbo (a coin). Five cannons are now displayed at the National Museum and one at the Deokpojin Pavilion. Now there are various facilities set up including a camping spot and a training center for students.
Transportation Bus: Take the Yanggok bound bus #6 from Gimpo Airport and Yeongdeungpo or a bus for Ganghwa from Incheon to exchange to one for Daemyeong-ri to Deokpojin and walk for 20 minutes. Car: Take Road #48 from the Gaehwa Intersection, the west tip of the Olympic Road and turn left at the Nusan-ri intersection (Yangchon Gas Station), to go 17.6Km for Ganghwa, and, then, take Road #352 at Yanggok to go straight about 8Km. You can see the road sign on the right before going to Daemyeongpogu Estuary.

Description The tombs are where Wonjong, father of King Injo (1623-1649), the 16th King of the Joseon Dynasty, and Queen Inhyeon are buried. The size and shape of the tombs show the typical style of the mid-Joseon era. Below the tombs, there is a room called Jesil where King Yeongjo (the 21st King) and King Jeongjo (the 22nd King) used to have a ceremony for the deceased. The surrounding area is made to look like a park. It is close to Seoul, so many families come here to have a picnic on holidays.
fare: 1,000 won for adults and free of charge for students (under 18)
Opening Hours: 09:30-18:00
Transportation Bus: Take the Ganghwa bound bus from Sinchon and Incheon Bus Terminal and get off at the Gimpo Bus Terminal and exchange to one for Gilhun Apt.
