Description
This fortress was designated as the nation’s 139th Historical Place. During the late Joseon Dynasty. when the country was trying to protect itself from foreign powers, the fortress was used to drive off American and English warships. It was a strategic military base because it protects the country from enemies coming from the sea and stops them from going to Ganghwa Island, which is very close to Seoul. A battle took place here between the Korean and French soldiers during Byeonginyangyo (a battle with foreign invaders in the Byeongin year). The fortress was built in 1694, the 20th year of Sukjong's governance, to protect the Ganghwa Island from enemies. It is 6km in length and has three gates (East, West, and North) and a temple called Munsusa within it. The surrounding area has such beautiful scenery, especially in fall when the leaves turn red and yellow, that it is even called the "Geumgang of Gimpo". Standing on the top of the fortress you can see into North Korea.
Transportation
Bus: Take the Ganghwa bound bus from Sinchon and Incheon Bus Terminal to the Gimpo University (about twenty minutes). Car: Take the road #48 to pass Masong and Gunha-ri to the Seongdong checkup point.

Description
This is where people experience both pleasure and sadness because they can see North Korean villages with the naked eye. This was the only place from which to see North Korea before exchanges between the North and South were allowed. After the observatory was built, about 200,000 people visited the place each year. A large Christmas tree is set up here during Christmas and a Buddhist mass is held on the Buddha's birthday under the theme of unification. The scenery here is very beautiful.

 Daebudo Island
Description
With construction that started in 1994 to connect the Oido Island of Siheung City and Daebudo Island of Ansan City, the longest embankment (12.7Km) in Asia was built and subsequently the 173,000 ha site and a vast lake were made. Daebudo, now part of the land, still boasts unique scenery, especially with the mountain of Hwanggeumsan and the 61km coast. There are many islets including Tando Island, and Seongamdo Island along the way to Daebudo from Seosin-myeon of Hwaseong City. Now, as four islets are connected by the embankment, you can tour around the island even when the tide is rising. You can also enjoy fishing both in the sea and the lake (the Bukdong Reservoir) as well as climbing and driving. The wide natural mud flats are also attractive.
Transportation
Bus: Take the Daebudo bound bus from the Incheon Bus Terminal (that runs four times a day) or take the bus from the Suwon Bus Terminal and transfer at Sagang for Daebudo.
Car: Take the road #1 from Seoul and road #42 and #306 turn from Suwon and, then, Road #309 from Sagang. Turn right at the Seosin Intersection to go 2Km and take a right at the first crossroad.

Mt.Samseongsan [Sammaksa Temple]
Description Looking westward from Mt. Gwanaksan, there is a peak standing out from the ridge, which is Mt. Samseongsan (455m). The mountain consists mostly of rocks. It is said that Saint Wonhyo built a temple called Sammaksa and practiced asceticism, which is why the mountain has its current name. The mountain changes its face as the seasons change. The stream of Samseong runs about four kilometers along the valley, south of the mountain, and adds to the magnificent beauty of the area. Sammaksa is near the top of the mountain. There is a monument and a cave where Saint Wonhyo is said to have practiced asceticism and a millennium-old huge zelkova tree that is said to have been planted by the Saint. There are also some Buddhist cultural remains.

Mt.Soyosan [Jajaeam Retreat]
Description In Dongducheon's Soyo-dong lies the small but uniquely beautiful Mt. Soyosan. The azalea blossoms in spring are breathtaking. Then in autumn, the beauty of the spring flowers is matched by that of the crimson foliage, which is why it is often referred to as the Sogeumgang or 'Little Mt. Geumgangsan' , of Gyeonggi. This is also a Buddhist site that is famous as the place where Saint Wonhyo achieved enlightenment. Moreover, the numerous amusement and convenience facilities such as snow-sledding hills, swimming pool, outdoor concert hall, and parking lot have made this site a great one-day travel course for urbanites. On the way up to the mountain's peak are the Cheongryang Waterfall and the 10m tall Wonhyo Waterfall whose cascading waters will refresh its viewers. The Jajaeam Retreat within the mountains is alegacy in itself as the temple built by Saint Wonhyo in the 14th year (645) of Queen Seondeok's rule during the Silla Era. Fresh spring water flows from inside the Iljumun Gate and past the rear side of the parking lot. Transportation Train: From Uijeongbu Station, take the Gyeongwon Line train for Sintan-ri and get off at the Mt. Soyosan Station (departs on every 20th minute of the hour) Bus: From Suyu-ri, Seoul, take the non-stop bus to Mt. Soyosan (departs 12 times a day). Car: Take state route #3 in the direction of Uijeongbu, pass Dongducheon-si. Make a right just before Mt. Soyosan Station.

Galbi (Beef Ribs)
Seasoned beef ribs have been famous in Suwon City since 1956, when Hwachunok in Yeongdong Market, a traditional market, began to serve ribs seasoned with natural spices and roasted over a charcoal fire. The ribs are famous for their size and excellent flavor. The secret of Suwon beef ribs is the salt sued to preserve the unique flavor of the meat and produce an unadorned taste.
The greatest reason for the popularity of the ribs is not only the taste but also the ease of eating. Ribs are cut into long pieces and roasted so that diners can enjoy succulent mouthfuls.
